The Institute’s head office is located at the Ivo Pitanguy Clinic and includes a comfortable auditorium equipped with closed-circuit TV connected to the surgical center and used for transmitting surgical procedure demonstrations, classes, lectures and conferences to the Clinic’s staff and special medical guests. The Institute not only receives plastic surgery post-graduate students from PUC and the Carlos Chagas Medical Post-Graduate Institute, but also medical students from other schools as well as medical professionals from around Brazil and overseas.
The Ivo Pitanguy Clinic and Institute library is home of more than 500 thousand documents gathered since the 1950s. It is considered one of the country’s most important reference sources for information on plastic surgery. The collection is presently undergoing re-organization to facilitate access for consultations and provide the scientific community with a valuable source of research for the development of this medical segment. The inventory includes videos, slides, books, periodicals, monographs and photographs as well as part of the vast correspondence sent and received by Ivo Pitanguy. the material includes newspaper and magazine reports and articles issued over the years. The image and photo bank is constantly consulted to prepare classroom materials, lectures and scientific presentations for symposiums, conferences and congresses. The Institute also provides access to the main electronic data bases of interest to the health and scientific sectors on the Internet.
for over 26 years, the Ivo Pitanguy Institute edited the Plastic Surgery Bulletin, a respected, bilingual, scientific publication, internationally indexed and issued twice yearly. Presently, the scientific productions issued by the Institute are disseminated in articles published in national and international magazines.
